Antique Faux Grain Wood Storage Box, Primitive Painted Finish
Description:
Believed to date to the late 19th to early 20th century, circa 1880–1910, this rectangular storage box reflects practical household storage from a time when decorative paint finishes were often used to imitate more expensive hardwoods. The exterior has a warm brown painted grain with honest surface wear from age and use, giving the box a timeworn, rustic character.
The interior is painted in a soft tan. A small hole in the lid indicates where an original pull or knob was once attached. Useful for storing textiles, papers, keepsakes, or small household items, this piece also works beautifully as a rustic accent on open shelving, a console table, or at the foot of a bookshelf. Its aged finish and simple form pair especially well with English country, farmhouse, and primitive interiors.
Condition:
Sound antique condition. Original painted finish shows chipping and surface wear. Small hole present in lid from missing original pull. Hinges are intact and functional. Interior paint shows age-related wear. No structural damage noted.
