Product Care

Care tips for vintage glassware, silver, linens, and more — practical advice to help you enjoy your pieces for years to come.

Glassware

Wash and dry by hand or in the dishwasher on a short cycle. Dry immediately.

Dinnerware

Wash and dry by hand any items with gold, silver, or hand painted details. Other items may be washed in the dishwasher on a short cycle. Dry immediately after washing, or air dry.

Silver

Wash and dry silver plate and sterling silver by hand in warm soapy water. I use Wrights Silver Polish to polish my silver when it has tarnished. Using your silver regularly cuts down on the need to polish it.

In the past I've washed my silver forks and spoons in the dishwasher but I've since switched to hand-washing as it's difficult to find dishwasher detergent and rinse aids that are free of silver damaging ingredients. Always wash silver knives by hand to avoid rust spots from metal interactions and loosening glued handles.

Copper & Brass

Copper and brass items should always be washed and dried by hand. I use Brasso to polish my brass and copper when needed. However if the patina is attractive I will leave it as it is.

Linens

Linens may be laundered by hand or on a delicate machine cycle. Doilies should be hand-washed due to their delicate construction. Oxy Clean is effective for removing stains or to whiten. Hang to dry. Iron when still damp or use a steam setting. Do not iron visible stains, as this will set the stain.

Baskets

Wash baskets in warm soapy water, rinse well, and set out in the sun to dry.
