Antique Painted Wooden Storage Box, Faux Grain Finish
Description:
Believed to date to circa 1880–1910, this box reflects practical household storage from a time when decorative paint finishes were often used to imitate more expensive hardwoods. Its rustic faux-grain painted surface creates a humble faux bois effect — simple, timeworn, and utilitarian rather than refined. Visible square nail heads on the underside are a nice construction detail and add to the box’s antique character.
The interior is painted in a soft tan. A small hole in the lid indicates where an original pull or knob was once attached. Useful for storing textiles, papers, keepsakes, or small household items, this piece also works beautifully as a rustic accent on open shelving, a console table, or at the foot of a bookshelf. Its aged finish and simple form pair especially well with English country, farmhouse, and primitive interiors.
Styling props shown in photos are not included. Listing is for the wooden box only.
