CONDITION
Very good vintage condition. No chips or cracks observed. Natural variation and veining throughout the stone. One bookend features darker mineral inclusions in the base that add natural variation and character.

ABOUT THIS PIECE
The carving extends well beyond the flat back panels, giving the potted plants, leaves and flowers a sculptural, three-dimensional quality. The soapstone ranges from golden olive to soft pink and rust tones, with darker natural inclusions visible in one base.

At nearly four pounds combined, the pair has enough weight to function as actual bookends while remaining compact enough for a desk or smaller shelf. No maker’s mark is present.

INSPIRATION
Use them with favorite books on a shelf, desk or library table, or display the pair on their own as small carved stone objects.
