CONDITION
In excellent antique condition. The unglazed underside has some marks. Gilt edging shows almost no wear. No chips, stains, or crazing.
ABOUT THIS PIECE
The long, shallow porcelain tray is hand-painted with yellow roses and green foliage over a softly shaded cream, yellow, and warm orange ground. Gilt edging follows the rim and integrated handles. The decoration is signed “S. Nadesco.”
The underside bears the green Hand Painted Nippon M-in-wreath mark associated with Morimura Brothers, the company behind the porcelain business that later became Noritake.
INSPIRATION
Use it as a decorative tray on a dresser or sideboard, for perfume bottles and jewelry, or as a centerpiece base for candles and greenery.
