Antique Jean Pouyat Limoges Violets Tea Set, Teapot, Sugar, Creamer
Description:
A lovely antique Limoges porcelain tea set by Jean Pouyat, including a petite teapot with matching covered sugar and creamer. Decorated in soft pale green and white with swirled forms, embossed detailing, hand-painted purple violets and gold accents. Each piece is decorated on the front and reverse sides.
The satin glaze and sculptural handles give this trio an elegant, refined presence. Marked “J.P. / Limoges / France” and dating to the late 19th century, this set is ideal for display, intimate tea service, or collection.
Condition:
Excellent antique condition overall. The set has been well cared for, with signs of age appropriate to antique porcelain. A small glazed rim irregularity is present on the sugar bowl, consistent with manufacture (shown in photo). The gold finish on the teapot handle shows some uneven, textured areas consistent with hand-applied gilding. Minor dark marks are present where the lids make contact with the teapot and sugar bowl. No cracks or repairs observed. All pieces bear matching maker’s marks.
