CONDITION
Very good vintage condition. No cracks, chips, or structural damage observed. Lid opens and closes nicely. Interior lining is intact and clean. Light surface wear is present, consistent with age and handling.

ABOUT THIS PIECE
Simple square-cut construction, exposed end grain, and broad expanses of uncarved wood give this box a more restrained character than many heavily ornamented Indian carved boxes. The carving is contained within individual motifs, allowing the natural variation and open-grain texture of the wood to remain an important part of the design.

The original paper “India” label remains on the underside with a handwritten number. The wood appears to be Indian rosewood or sheesham, though the species has not been confirmed.

INSPIRATION
Sized for small keepsakes, jewelry, or other personal treasures, the box offers useful storage while remaining compact enough for a desk, shelf, sideboard, or stack of books.
