ABOUT THIS PIECE
This carved wooden duck has a long, low body, rounded head and elongated bill, with the wood grain visible through its medium brown stain. The surface has a smooth satin finish rather than a high gloss.

Golden-colored glass eyes add a small realistic detail to the otherwise simplified form. The underside is wood-burned “Stamatedes Originals 1981,” along with the personal dedication “To Melissa and Jim, Our love.”

INSPIRATION
A handsome small-scale bird for a bookshelf, mantel or tabletop, particularly suited to a collection of vintage wood pieces, waterfowl or folk art.
