CONDITION
Good vintage condition. There is a small chip on the underside rim of the sugar bowl lid, shown in the photographs. No cracks or other wear noted.
ABOUT THIS PIECE
This matching sugar bowl and creamer were made in Portugal for Porta and carry the hand-painted Lynn-Hollyn signature on their undersides. The sugar bowl is marked 375, while the creamer carries the number 37LA. The rounded sugar bowl has a fitted lid with a painted floral knob and two gracefully curved handles. The creamer has a generous pouring spout and matching handle.
The decoration has a charming folk-art quality, with loosely painted, stylized flowers in muted shades of purple and dusty pink, and each piece edged with purple and golden brown. Both pieces have floral decoration on each side.
INSPIRATION
I couldn't resist the ribbing and the muted, slightly autumnal color palette. I enjoyed using this pair as shelf decor in my kitchen, but they would work equally well holding cream and sugar at the tea or breakfast table, provided the small chip on the lid doesn't bother you.
