CONDITION
Excellent vintage condition. The gilt pouring edge of the spout has some surface roughness, but I do not see a chip or fleabite there. Gold detailing is otherwise nicely intact, and the interior is clean. No chips, cracks, or crazing observed.
ABOUT THIS PIECE
The decoration is especially appealing because it's everywhere rather than being limited to a single front-facing bouquet. The squat shape, ribbed body and lid, and the angular handle add to the appeal. The number 3743 marked on the base is Sadler’s pattern number. I understand that patterns in the 3000 series date to the 1940s and 1950s.
INSPIRATION
A proper sharing-size teapot for afternoon tea, but equally cheerful for everyday use. The abundant flowers and gold details also make it a pretty piece to leave out with a collection of vintage teaware.
